The Ministry Of Social Affairs Strikes 228,000 Uninhabitable Social Assistance Recipients

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) crossed out 228,000 names from the list of recipients of social assistance (bansos) because they were deemed no longer eligible. This evaluation is the result of the collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), as an effort to screen out the recipients of social assistance who are truly entitled.

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf alias Gus Ipul explained that this deletion is part of the steps to improve the social assistance distribution system so that it is more targeted, according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 4 of 2025.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs is currently still investigating data on around 375,000 other recipients. Examination is carried out through analysis of suspicious accounts, job profiles, and financial activities, including account balances that do not match the criteria for beneficiaries.

"We want social assistance to be on target. If later in verification a discrepancy is found, then social assistance will not be given. In fact, for those indicated to be online gambling, we will replace them with more appropriate recipients," he said.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also plans to implement a comprehensive account screening before the distribution of the third phase of social assistance in the third quarter of this year. The goal is that the verification process can be carried out from the start and the social assistance does not fall into the wrong hands.

"We are fully committed to the principles of justice and accountability. This initial verification is important so that the recipients of the next social assistance have been strictly screened," said Saifullah.

To strengthen the data validation system, the Ministry of Social Affairs will cooperate with more parties, including local governments and related institutions, so that the distribution of social assistance can be transparent and trusted.

"This validation cannot run alone. We will involve all parties to ensure that assistance is received by people who really need it," he concluded.
