Sprindik Leaves After Examining Former Minister Of Religion Yaqut, KPK Explores Allegations Of Hajj Corruption
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has raised the status of alleged corruption in the implementation of Hajj to investigations. General investigation warrants (sprindik) have been issued and signed by the leadership.
A VOI source said the signing of the generalized sprindik was carried out on Thursday, August 7 or after former Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas was questioned.
"It has been signed. It has been signed. It has been upgraded from investigation to investigation," said the source, Thursday night, August 7.
There is no suspect's name in the regulation yet. Official information is said to be delivered by the KPK in the near future.
The anti-corruption commission in the investigation process detected allegations of fraudulent practices related to the addition of the hajj quota. The distribution is said to be not in accordance with the rules in Article 64 paragraph 2 of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah.
The KPK has summoned the travel agents or travel agents of Hajj and Umrah as well as employees of the Ministry of Religion in the investigation. Then, the former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas was also asked for information on Thursday, August 7.
After being examined, Yaqut stated that he had provided the necessary information in front of investigators. He admitted that he explained about the alleged problem with the hajj quota.
"Yes, thank God, I am grateful that I finally got the opportunity, got the opportunity to clarify everything, especially those related to the distribution of additional quotas in the 2024 Hajj process," Yaqut told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Acting (Plt) Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu said Yaqut's investigation was a sign that the investigation would end soon. Allegations of corruption related to the implementation of the hajj will enter a new chapter.
"This is close to completion," said Asep, who is also the Director of KPK Investigations, to reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 7 evening.
"Hopefully, in the not too distant future or not past August, we will increase it to investigation," he concluded.
