BGN Calls Through The MBG Program, Housewives Can Have IDR 2 Million Income Per Month

JAKARTA - Deputy for Systems and Governance of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Tigor Pangaribuan revealed that the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) also creates job opportunities for the community around the kitchen operational area of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), especially women.

"We employ 47 people working at the SPPG, and they come from around the central kitchen (SPPG). Most of the workers are women," said Tigor in the International Forum broadcast via the Bappenas RI YouTube channel, Thursday, August 7.

He explained that the majority of the workers were housewives who previously did not have a job. Through the MBG program, they now have an income of around Rp. 2 million per month.

"Usually they are housewives, and then with this program now they have work there. We give a salary of around Rp. 2 million per month," said Tigor.

Furthermore, Tigor said that these workers play an important role in carrying out nutritional service activities in the central kitchen, including preparing and distributing nutritious food to program beneficiaries.

One SPPG unit, continued Tigor, is targeted to be able to serve up to 3,000 beneficiaries. To support daily operations, the service unit is also directly connected to the local government and cooperatives responsible for the provision of food raw materials.

"This is the construction of how we do it. The service unit gets all the food from the local government and cooperatives. The local government and their cooperatives buy raw materials from local farmers," he explained.

In addition, Tigor said, until now the implementation of the MBG program has served 10 million beneficiaries throughout Indonesia, with a total of 4,100 SPPGs that have been formed and operational.

"Previously there were still around 3,000 more, now there are 4,100 SPPG of the latest data, already serving around 10 million beneficiaries," he said.
