Super League 2025/2026 Will Still Be Led By Foreign Referees
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the PSSI Referee Committee, Yoshimi Ogawa, said that the 2025/2026 Super League would still include foreign referees to lead the match.
According to this Japanese man, the presence of foreign referees can be an opportunity to learn for local referees. However, regarding quantities, Ogawa has not been able to detail the number of foreign referees who will be assigned later.
"Regarding foreign referees, Pak Erick (Chairman of PSSI) said that the percentage (foreign referees) would be small. However, we still have local referees who have capabilities."
"However, we really had to bring a foreign referee with good quality so that it could be an example."
"Sometimes inviting foreign referees is also difficult because they have to go through a process at AFC and FIFA," said Yoshimi Ogawa in Jakarta, quoted Thursday, August 7, 2025.

Regarding the referee's leadership in the 2025/2026 Super League, Yoshimi Ogawa argues that their quality has been very good so far.
The problem is, maximum preparations have been made ahead of the kickoff Super League 2025/2026 on Friday, August 8, 2025.
"We have made intense preparations so that the referee is ready to lead tomorrow from the Super League to the Championship division. We are ready to provide the best referees on the field," he said.
"Compared to the previous two seasons, this season I am confident that they have developed both physically, mentally, and technically."
"They are better at understanding the new regulations. I am confident they can continue to grow. However, of course we can't cover up that they can make mistakes," said Yoshimi Ogawa.
Meanwhile, on the opening day of the 2025/2026 Super League, there will be three matches presented.
Borneo FC will host Bhayangkara FC at the Segiri Stadium at 15.30 WIB. At 19.00 WIB, there will be two matches held simultaneously, namely PSM Makassar vs Persijap Jepara at Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium and Persebaya Surabaya vs PSIM Yogyakarta at Gelora Bung Tomo.
