Google Trains More Than 1 Million Teachers To Use AI And Gemini Apps

JAKARTA Google continues to be committed to empowering teachers in the country, especially in mastering technology. Therefore, these teachers are taught the skills of accessing Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Stuart Miller, Head of Marketing APAC Google for Education, said that Google has trained more than one million teachers in Indonesia so far. This training shows Google's commitment to driving digitalization in the world of education.

"In recent years, we have trained more than one million teachers in digital literacy and integrated technology into the way we teach and how we lead this digital field," Stuart said in a press briefing on Thursday, August 8.

Digital skills training for teachers is divided into several programs. Google has trained more than 880 thousand teachers throughout Indonesia through partnerships with ministries, education services, and a number of educational institutions.

Google also has a collaboration program with the Ministry of Basic and Medium Education named Gemini Academy. Through this program, Google trains educators to use AI and Gemini models.

"This is an AI training to help them (the teachers) understand AI and use it responsibly," said Stuart. "(including) how to write prompts and how Gemini and AI can become creative partners."

Through this program, Google has succeeded in training more than 200 thousand teachers. These educators are also believed to be able to create more creative content in teaching. By utilizing Gemini, teachers can save time in creating learning content.

"(In line with) case studies in Ireland, teachers using Gemini manage to save 10 hours a week (in creating content). So, I think this has the potential to help teachers," said Stuart.
