Blind Jealousy, Man In Palu Burns Wife To Death

PALU - A resident of Palu City was shocked by a domestic violence (KDRT) that led to death on Jalan Trans Sulawesi, Mamboro Barat Village, North Palu District, Wednesday afternoon, August 6. A man with the initials M (42) was desperate to burn his wife, AN (40), alive in front of the victim's food stall.

The victim was rushed to the Madani Hospital in Palu with burns reaching 80%. However, his life could not be saved and was declared dead on Thursday (7/8) at 10.00 WITA.

The Palu Police Chief, Kombes Pol Deni Abraham, confirmed the tragic incident and stated that the perpetrator had surrendered to the Central Sulawesi Police SPKT before being secured at the Palu Police Headquarters.

"The perpetrator had fled, but finally surrendered. We have secured it and are undergoing intensive examination," said Kombes Deni in his statement.

The chronology of the incident began when the perpetrator came from behind the shop, watered the victim's body with gasoline, then ignited the fire. The brutal action took place in front of the victim's shop and was witnessed directly by residents, including a customer who was ordering coffee.

Panic residents tried to extinguish the fire and evacuate the victim to the hospital. However, the severe burns suffered by the victim made his life not saved.

"The motive is temporary because the perpetrator is jealous. He is not happy that his wife's shop is often visited by drivers," said Deni Abraham, Police Chief.

Kombes Deni emphasized that the actions of the perpetrators could not be justified for any reason.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere at the Madani Hospital heated up when the victim's family came and vented their emotions by throwing up the window of the hospital. The Tawaeli Police, who were quick to secure the location, immediately calmed the victim's family and controlled the situation.

"The legal process is still ongoing. We urge the public not to take judicial action and leave it entirely to the authorities," said Deni.

Until now, the perpetrator is still being held at the Palu Police Headquarters for further investigation.
