Commission I Of The House Of Representatives Calls Komdigi-Kemendikdasmen Proposal To Block Roblox Games Must Go Through Studies
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dave Laksono, said that his party would first pay close attention to studies and reports from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) regarding the discourse on blocking the Roblox game which is considered to contain violent content in children.
"Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives will certainly pay further attention to reports and studies from the relevant Ministries, including the Ministry of Education and Culture, before taking a stand or encouraging certain steps," Dave told reporters, Thursday, August 7.
Dave understands the concerns that develop in society, especially from parents and educators about content that is considered inappropriate for children. In the digital era like now, according to him, protection of children in cyberspace is indeed a common priority.
"However, an approach to this issue needs to be carried out comprehensively and proportionally," he said.

Meanwhile, Dave said, Commission I of the DPR encourages digital content supervision to be carried out selectively and data-based, not solely through blocking.
According to him, digital education is needed for parents and children, as well as strengthening a content classification system that is more adaptive to technological developments.
"If serious violations of applicable norms or regulations are found, of course we will support proportional corrective measures, including possible access restrictions," explained Dave.
"But what is more important is to build a healthy and safe digital ecosystem for the younger generation," he concluded.
