Jessica Iskandar's Husband, Vincent Verhaag, Becoming an Indonesian Citizen, Minister of Law and Human Rights: His Documents Are Complete

JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas explained that the citizenship process for model and presenter Vincent Verhaag as an Indonesian citizen (WNI) was expedited, because the documents provided were complete.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) is ready to serve the needs of the public, including foreign nationals (WNA) who wish to become Indonesian citizens.

"We have prepared a fast service system. So it depends on the applicant. If the documents are complete, like Vincent's, the process will be fast," Supratman said when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday, as reported by Antara.

Vincent obtained Indonesian citizen status after following the citizenship procedures at the Ministry of Law.

The Minister of Law stated that the citizenship process based on mixed marriages, whether filed by Vincent or anyone else, can be completed quickly, as long as the applicant follows each procedure and prepares all required documents completely and correctly.

He stated that the process of transferring citizenship from a foreign national to an Indonesian citizen (WNA) has become easier because it is now done electronically, both during the input process from the applicant and the output process.

With the online system, Supratman said, applications can be processed within five working days from the receipt of complete documents. Previously, the manual system took 49 days.

"Because the system is online, applicants can apply from anywhere and at any time. Applicants can then print the ministerial decree regarding their citizenship status themselves," he said.

During a meeting with the Minister of Law and Human Rights in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 6, Vincent also expressed his satisfaction with the citizenship process.

Vincent, who previously held Dutch citizenship, said the process for acquiring Indonesian citizenship went smoothly and efficiently thanks to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights' digital services.

"I'm very happy to become an Indonesian citizen because the process is very orderly and easy, especially with the online submission of documents. I thought it would be complicated and time-consuming, but it turned out to be very fast," Vincent said.

Indonesian culture is not new to Vincent. His wife, actress Jessica Iskandar, revealed that Vincent has long wanted to become an Indonesian citizen because of his love and emotional connection to Indonesia, his birthplace.

"He (Vincent) was born in Bontang, East Kalimantan, and his extended family also lives in Indonesia. Furthermore, becoming an Indonesian citizen will make many things easier in daily life and family matters," Jessica said on the same occasion.
