Democratic Party Decides Independently In The 2014-2019 Government Period In History Today, 7 August 2014

JAKARTA History today, 11 years ago, August 7, 2014, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) decided his party, Democrat, was independent in the 2014-2019 administration period. Democrats did not side with Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) camp. Nor did they side with the opposition camp Prabowo Subianto.

The 2014 presidential election has indeed attracted the attention of many people. Prospective leaders who compete have narrowed to two people: Jokowi and Prabowo. Political elites are starting to heat up their engines. They began to weigh and measure which camps should be supported. However, not with SBY.

The President of Indonesia is aware that he must maintain his neutrality. Alias should not take sides. Political ethics is trying to be upheld. The goal is that those who are not elected must accept defeat. Everything because the presidential election process is running fairly.

This condition made SBY immediately move to invite all state servants, including the TNI and Polri, to be neutral. It is considered that SBY's alignment will make the 2014 presidential election damaged and long. Pay more attention to SBY giving to the TNI and Polri.

The two institutions are considered to have a vital role. His job is to secure the running of the 2014 presidential election. Any form of potential fraud must be able to be detected in money politics to intimidation. SBY also advised that when they were not neutral, they would tarnish the image of the SBY government.

SBY just wants the Indonesian people to choose according to their conscience. Alias without being influenced by other factors. SBY also asked the Indonesian people to read the candidate's track record so that there will be no regrets in the future.

The 2014 presidential election was finally won by Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla. Both were only inaugurated on October 20.

SBY, who incidentally is the General Chair of the Democratic Party, also emphasized that his party is better independent in the upcoming 2014-2019 administration period on August 7, 2014. The Democratic Party will not side with the opposition Jokowi or Prabowo.

SBY expressed this desire as an example so that Democrats could become a balancing force. He considered that strength could color Indonesia's democracy. Even though the risk of the Democratic party's electability could be decreasing.
