KPK Fugitive Paulus Tannos Is Recorded Using Guinea-Bissau Passport
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that Paulus Tannos, alias Thian Po Tjhin, a fugitive in the alleged corruption case involving the procurement of electronic identity cards (KTP-el), holds a passport from the West African country of Guinea-Bissau, in order to relinquish his Indonesian citizenship.
"There was an attempt by Tannos to revoke his Indonesian citizenship. His Indonesian citizenship was revoked, and he became a citizen of Guinea-Bissau," said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), as quoted by ANTARA on Wednesday evening, August 6.
However, Asep said Tannos' attempt was rejected by the Guinea-Bissau government because he was facing problems.
He further explained that Tannos obtained a Guinea-Bissau passport because the country allows dual citizenship.
"Guinea-Bissau is a country that allows people to hold two nationalities. So, dual citizenship is permitted," he explained.
Paulus Tannos has been on the wanted list (DPO) since October 19, 2021.
This is due to alleged corruption in the procurement of electronic identity cards (KTP) at the Ministry of Home Affairs from 2011 to 2013.
Meanwhile, Paulus Tannos is currently undergoing extradition proceedings in Singapore.
