Iran Executes Man Accused Of Leaking Nuclear Scientists Information To Israel
JAKARTA - Iranian authorities executed a man accused of spying for Israel, leaking information about a nuclear scientist who died in an Israeli attack last June reported Mizan news agency.
The report said the man named Rauzbeh Vadi had worked in one of Iran's "important and sensitive organizations", without elaborating.
The report said Vadi had "suggested various crimes against the country's internal and external security that had caused serious disturbances to public order".
Vadi was allegedly recruited online and met with Mossad officers, Israel's intelligence agency, five times in Vienna, Austria, as reported by Al Jazeera.
Israel attacked Iran in aggression titled "Raising Lion" on June 13, which it said targeted nuclear and military facilities, killing military commanders and nuclear scientists in directed attacks, and killing civilians in airstrikes in residential areas.
Iran retaliated against Israeli attacks, causing the two to be involved in attacking each other for 12 days. Later, the United States joined forces on June 22 by targeting Iran's nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow.
Iran has since promised a swift trial for people arrested on suspicion of cooperating with Israel.
