APJII Appreciates The 100 Mbps Internet Program, Secretary General: Good But Don't Force It
JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) welcomes the government's plan to provide internet access with a minimum speed of 100 Mbps in Indonesia.
According to APJII Secretary General, Zulfadly Syam, this plan is a positive first step towards the government's great goal in building this "giga city" in the country.
"Yes, in principle, the 100 Mbps program is not a bad program. The roadmap is also good, giga city. Well, starting from 100 Mbps, I think it's pretty good," Zul said after the launch of the 2025 Indonesia Internet Profile Survey on Wednesday, August 6 in Jakarta.
However, Zul reminded that the implementation of this program should not be carried out by coercion against internet service providers, especially in areas with large infrastructure challenges.
He highlighted the difference in the cost of providing internet services between Java and other areas such as Kalimantan or Bali, which still depends heavily on connectivity to international gateways in Jakarta.

"As long as the government does not impose too many providers to give 100 Mbps, if the cost is still high in an area," he added.
Not to forget, he also emphasized the importance of a proportional approach in the implementation of programs, especially in eastern Indonesia. Because, the cost of providing high-speed internet services in the region is still relatively expensive.
"Because in all areas east of Indonesia, to provide 100 Mbps, the price is still too expensive. So, we must also be proportional," he concluded.
