The Majority Of Smartphone Users In Indonesia Spend Rp1-1.5 Million For The Internet
JAKARTA - The majority of Indonesians still rely on mobile data from cellular operators as the main way to access the internet, with a percentage of 74.27% by 2025.
Based on the 2025 Indonesia Internet Profile Survey by the Association of Indonesian Internet Network Operators (APJII), the number of mobile data users increased compared to the previous year with 68.02%.
Meanwhile, the use of home-coupled WiFi has actually decreased, from 28.43% to 22.38%, which shows that internet access via cellular networks dominates compared to fixed networks.
"So most of our people use mobile to access the internet in Indonesia," said APJII Chairman Muhammad Arif Angga, on Wednesday, August 6 in Jakarta.
In terms of the device used, smartphones or cellphones are still the most dominant device to access the internet, with a very high percentage at 83.39%. While the laptop is in second place with 11.42%, followed by Smart TV at 2.52%.

The APJII survey also saw that the amount of expenditure used for internet devices for Indonesians was quite varied.
A total of 86.56% of smartphone users admitted to allocating a budget of under Rp. 1 million for their Internet data, while another 88.02% allocated a budget of around Rp. 1-1.5 million for Internet data.
As for laptop devices, 23.13 percent of respondents admitted that they had to allocate a budget of around Rp. 6 million for their internet data.
