Basarnas: 1 Victim Of The Lampung Sungai Klawing Flood In Search

CILACAP - The Search and Rescue Office (KPP) / Basarnas Cilacap said that until now there is still one victim of the flash flood of Sungai Klating, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java, which has not been found.

The head of the Cilacap Basarnas M Abdullah said, on the fourth day of the search, the joint SAR team found one victim of the Klawing River flash flood. The victim named Muhyadi (60) was found dead about 8 kilometers from the scene.

After identification, Muhiyadi's body was handed over to the family for further handling.

Previously, the joint SAR team found the victim on behalf of Sarwoyo (50) dead on Tuesday afternoon. Sarwoyo's body was found 5 kilometers from the scene.

"With these findings, until now there is still one victim who has not been found out of a total of six people who were swept away by the flash flood on Sunday night. The joint SAR team is still continuing the search until all victims are found," Abdullah said through video recordings received by journalists in Purwokerto, Antara, Wednesday, August 6.

On Wednesday afternoon, residents of Pegalongan Village, Patikraja District, Banyumas Regency, were surprised by the discovery of a man's body in the Serayu River which was suspected of being one of the victims of the Klawing River flash flood which was located in the river.

The joint SAR team guarding the Serayu Movement Dam immediately arrived at the location of the discovery to evacuate the body.

After being evacuated and identified by the Inafis Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Banyumas City Police (Polresta), the body was immediately taken to the Prof Margono Soekarjo Hospital Purwokerto.

The head of the Banyumas Police Satreskrim, Police Commissioner Andryansyah Rithas Hasibuan, said that based on the examination using identification equipment, the bodies found in the Serayu River were not victims of the Klawing River flash flood.

However, he was not yet willing to reveal the identity of the body because he was still trying to contact the victim's family.

"From our tools, the victim was identified as a resident of Jakarta. We are still trying to contact his family to make sure," he said.

Flash floods in the Klating River, Kaligondang District, Purbalingga Regency, occurred on Sunday (3/8), around 19.30 WIB, after the area was hit by heavy to extreme rain.

Prior to the incident, six workers were reportedly making waterways in the Klawing River using two heavy equipment.

However, suddenly there was a flash flood, so three workers fled by climbing into heavy equipment, while the whereabouts of the other three people were unknown.

The joint SAR team coordinated by the Cilacap Basarnas immediately evacuated three workers who were trapped in flash floods. The evacuation process for the three workers who escaped by riding the heavy equipment lasted until Monday (4/8), at 02.00 WIB, using a rubber boat.

The three workers who were rescued consisted of Juni Setiawan (31), residents of Tunjungseto Village, Semor District, Kebumen Regency, Muntohar (30), residents of Kumedijing Village, Wadaslintang District, Wonosobo Regency, and Bintang Putra Nugraha (23), residents of Jagalan Village, Seyegan District, Sleman Regency.

The three workers whose whereabouts are unknown consist of Tedi (28), a resident of Majenang, Cilacap Regency, Muhyadi (60), a resident of Penaruban Village, Kaligondang District, Purbalingga, and Sarwoyo (50), a resident of Penaruban Village, Kaligondang District, Purbalingga.

With Sarwoyo's body being found on Tuesday (5/8) afternoon and Muhyadi on Wednesday afternoon, until now the joint SAR team is still looking for the victim's whereabouts on behalf of Tedi.
