New Generation Of MG4 EV Pre-sales Begins, First EV Uses Semi Solid State Battery At A Price Of IDR 160 Million
JAKARTA - After a long wait, MG finally opened the latest generation MG4 EV sheath. SAIC Motor officially opened the pre-sales of the model at a price starting from 73,800 yuan or around Rp168 million.
Based on a report from Carnewschina, quoted on Tuesday, August 6. This one car comes in four variants that will soon be available with a semi solid state battery scheduled for the announcement of the official price in September, and deliveries will be made before the end of the year.
MG4 is one of the world's first production vehicles to offer semi solid state batteries on a large scale. SAIC reports that the battery has successfully passed a three-way needle penetration test without smoke emissions and shows increased performance in low temperature conditions. This innovation aims to increase the safety and life of batteries, expanding consumer selection in the affordable compact car segment.
SAIC has invested about 500 million yuan to develop alloys for battery structures, combining lantanum and serium to increase the power and thermal resilience.
Taking a closer look at the changes offered from this latest generation MG4 EV. The design has indeed changed completely, in terms of dimensions it offers a length of 4,395 mm, a width of 1,842 mm, and a height of 1,551 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, an increase compared to the previous generation.
The exterior update includes the MG logo with a redesigned LED backlight, an arrow-shaped LED backlight, and six available colors, such as the Purple Donglai and Coral Red. The choice of rims ranges from 16 and 17 inches.

This car is also equipped with advanced connectivity supported by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 and Oppo. MG4 is equipped with a 2.5K floating touch screen measuring 15.6 inches powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
The vehicle introduces the MG\timesoppo Smart Mobility System, which allows smooth mobile phone integration into cars with digital key functions, AI voice commands, app mirrors, and agnostic compatibility of devices on Android, Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, and other leading smartphone brands. Over the air (OTA) updates will unlock features such as mobile-based long-distance parking and uninterrupted navigation.
In performance, this car is equipped with a permanent magnetic synchronous motor that produces 120 kW of power and a 250 Nm torque, with a top speed of 160 km/h. Two choices of lithium iron phosphate batteries offer a range of 437 km of CLTC (42.8 kWh) and 530 km (53.9 kWh). Charging from 30 to 80 percent takes about 20 minutes, while vehicles maintain an energy consumption rate of 10.4 kWh per 100 km.
