The Ministry Of Public Works Reveals Quality Infrastructure As A Foundation To Realize Economic Independence
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) revealed that quality infrastructure development is an important foundation in realizing economic independence.
"The development of quality, efficient and environmentally friendly infrastructure is one of the important foundations in realizing economic independence, improving the quality of life of the community, and strengthening the nation's competitiveness," said Director General of Highways Roy Rizali Anwar as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 6.
According to him, quality infrastructure development is in line with Astacita's national development priority agenda.
"This is in line with Astacita's national development priority agenda which emphasizes the importance of strengthening the strategic economic sector, equitable development and environmental sustainability," he said.
For information, the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, wants to re-emphasize President Prabowo Subianto's direction regarding the focus of infrastructure development in the next five years which is in line with Asta Cita.
To realize these big ideals, the Ministry of Public Works carries the vision of Strategic Plan 2025-2029, namely "The Realization of Advanced Indonesia in Supporting the 2045 Golden Foundation through the Implementation of Reliable and Sustainable Public Works Infrastructure" with the main target of PU608.
The PU608 Main Target can be described as follows, investment efficiency with an Incremental Capital Output Ratio (ICOR) target of less than 6, then poverty alleviation towards a percentage of 0 percent, and encouraging economic growth to 8 percent per year.
PU608 is not just an empty slogan, but a representation of the seriousness of the Ministry of Public Works in investigating the root causes of the high ICOR problem as well as formulating a concrete strategy to reduce it.
The Ministry of Public Works views ICOR as a strategic benchmark. The Ministry of Public Works not only talks about investment efficiency, but actually goes to the field to find out the main cause of the high ICOR.
The PU608 strategy is a real step to ensure that each rupiah of the development budget produces optimal and equitable economic benefits.
The high ICOR reflects the need for additional large investment for economic growth. Currently, the national ICOR value according to BPS data is 6.47.

Dody stated that this figure still has the potential to be suppressed through more directed and efficient investments, in line with President Prabowo's directives to achieve inclusive development throughout Indonesia.
