President Prabowo Hosts Head of China's Military Commission, Focuses on Military Technology Transfer
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a courtesy call from General Xu Xieqiang, Head of the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, at the President's residence on Kertanegara Street No. 4, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 5.
According to a post on the Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia on Wednesday, the meeting took place over dinner and discussed efforts to strengthen military technology, a key focus of the department led by General Xu.
The visit also reflected Indonesia and China's commitment to promoting national defense industry independence and enhancing global competitiveness through strategic cooperation and technology transfer.
Judging from the uploaded photos, the meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. General Xu was seen wearing a long-sleeved batik shirt in shades of blue and purple, while President Prabowo wore a blue-gold batik shirt.
The two were seen exchanging salutes during the welcoming ceremony on the terrace of President Prabowo's residence. General Xu was also seen holding a keris (a type of kris) presented by President Prabowo.
During the meeting, the President was accompanied by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, while General Xu was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong.
