Galaxy Z Flip 7's Screen Protector and Hinge Prove Robust in Extreme Testing

JAKARTA – When launching the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in early July 2025, Samsung continued to emphasize the device's durability. The South Korean company is confident in the strength of its latest foldable phone.

With Samsung's optimism, YouTuber Zack Nelson conducted direct research on the Galaxy Z Flip. He tested it directly to determine the foldable phone's strengths and weaknesses.

According to Gizmochina, the Galaxy Z Flip 7's cover screen demonstrated good scratch resistance. Thanks to Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the new phone sustained scratches at a Mohs hardness level of 6.

This means the phone is on par with other modern phones, which are safe from scratches from everyday objects like keys or coins. However, the main screen, located inside, fared differently.

Samsung prioritized the strength of the protective screen because the main screen is very fragile. Even a fingernail scratch can leave a permanent mark. This damage begins to appear at a Mohs hardness level of 2, which is still very low.

Meanwhile, in extreme bending tests, the phone remained intact and functioned normally without any cracks. The hinge has proven to be strong, as Samsung claimed when VOI attended the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 launch event some time ago.

The company stated that the Z Flip 7 can withstand up to 500,000 folds. This ensures the phone will remain functional for years of use.

Overall, Samsung has demonstrated progress in terms of durability, especially in the hinge. However, consumers should still be careful when using the inner screen, as it is more susceptible to scratches.
