Prabowo Orders Additional Dental Doctors At 4,000 Health Centers

JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto ordered Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to increase the number of dentists at health centers throughout Indonesia. This instruction was conveyed after the President received a report on the results of the implementation of the Free Health Check (CKG) program from the Minister of Health in a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday night, August 5, 2025.

In the report, it is known that the highest finding from the implementation of the CKG program stems from dental health problems. This shows that the health condition of Indonesians' teeth is still very concerning.

"He asked what his findings were, and the highest turned out to be teeth. So, our dental health is very bad. Of the 10,000 health centers, around 600 doctors do not have, while those who do not have dentists are around 4,000," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, quoted from Antara. He added that the priority in the future is to improve the health condition of children's teeth, adults, and the elderly so that they can live healthier.

In the same meeting, President Prabowo also expressed his readiness to inaugurate the three major hospitals that had been completed and were ready to operate. The three hospitals are the Ministry of Health Hospital in Jayapura, National Brain Center Hospital (PON Hospital) Prof. Dr. Mahar Mardjono in Jakarta, and the Heart Special Hospital in Solo which is a grant from the King of the United Arab Emirates.

Budi explained that the hospital in Jayapura has become one of the major hospitals belonging to the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, the PON Hospital, located in the Cawang area, East Jakarta, is designed as a national referral hospital for neurology services, specialist medical education, and a brain research center.

The construction of the PON Hospital has been completed and carried out by two state-owned companies, namely PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA) and PT PP, with a contract value of IDR 1.03 trillion. This hospital stands on an area of 116,000 square meters and has three main buildings as high as 11 floors equipped with advanced technology to support comprehensive medical services.

The PON Hospital construction project is also the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Dutch Development. It is hoped that the presence of this hospital will be able to strengthen the brain health service system in Indonesia and make it the leading center for neurology in the Southeast Asia region.

Meanwhile, a heart-specific hospital in Solo from the United Arab Emirates grant will also be inaugurated soon. The hospital is targeted to be an integrated cardiovascular service center for the people of Indonesia.

The government considers the development of health infrastructure and equitable distribution of medical personnel to be a strategic step to improve access and quality of health services throughout the country.
