Coach Opens The Possibility To Accompany Fajar/Fikri
JAKARTA The Indonesian men's doubles coach, Antonius Budi Ariantho, did not rule out the possibility to patent the pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri if their performance was consistent.
The pair will be registered for the China Masters Super 750 event which takes place on 16-21 September 2025 and the Korea Open Super 500 which will be held on 23-28 September 2025.
"If Fajar/Fikri can consistently play their game, they may be patented. Likewise with other couples who can show positive results," said Anton.
The impromptu duet for Fajar/Fikri was tried at Japan and the China Open 2025 last month. Even though they just played together at the international level, they successfully won the Super 1000 China Open 2025 title.

The two of them were united because their partner was absent for their own reasons. Muhammad Rian Ardianto (the Fajar pair) was sidelined because of family affairs and Daniel Marthin (the Fikri couple) was injured.
Anton said the decision to try Fajar/Fikri was again taken to see their consistency after successfully winning the title as well as looking for new combinations that could compete at the top level.
"Yesterday saw Fajar/Fikri's performance and performance was quite good at the Japan and the 2025 China Open. I want to try to see if they can consistently compete at the top level," said Anton.
Trying a new formula in the men's doubles sector will be carried out until the end of this year while waiting for Daniel to recover. According to estimates, the 24-year-old badminton player is likely to recover only in January 2026.
Apart from Fajar/Fikri, the new combination of Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan is also registered at the China Masters and the Korea Open 2025.
Before being tried again, Fajar and Rian will first focus on the upcoming 2025 World Championships (BWF World Championships). This prestigious event will be held in Paris, France, on August 25-31, 2025.
