Shin Tae-yong Officially Occupies Ulsan HD Coach Chair
JAKARTA - Former coach of the Indonesian National Team (Timnas), Shin Tae-yong finally returned to work as a coach. He was officially announced as a tactician for the South Korean club, Ulsan HD, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
"Welcome Shin Tae-yong. Ulsan HD appointed Shin Tae-yong as the 13th coach," wrote Ulsan HD via social media account.
Prior to this, rumors that Shin would join Ulsan had indeed been widely circulated. Moreover, he is a strong candidate to replace the Kim Pan-gon released by Ulsan HD following the poor results of the 2025 club season.
Shin is believed to be able to bring change and restore team performance like the 2024 season when they can become K-League 1 champions.

Shin Tae-yong expressed optimism over his new responsibilities. Especially now that Ulsan HD is in seventh place in the K-League 1 2025 standings with 31 points from 24 matches.
"I believe I can reverse the condition of the team. It is an honor to be Ulsan's coach. I have often fought Ulsan as a player."
"Now I am coach of Ulsan. I will try my best to develop Ulsan," said Shin Tae-yong through the club's official website quoted Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Shin last coached in K-League in 2012 by dealing with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma (now Seongnam FC) with a record 58 wins, 42 draws, and 53 defeats in the league.
During Seongnam's training, STY won the Asian Champions League title in 2010 and the Korean Cup in 2011.
"I think this club is having a hard time after appearing in the 2025 Club World Cup. I can say Ulsan is a good team, of course this team can get up."
"If fans want to wait longer, trust me, and support the team, I will make this team a team that can compete even though we cannot win the title in the near future," said Shin Tae-yong.
STY's debut as Ulsan HD coach will occur against Jeju SK on August 9, 2025. Ulsan HD has gone through 11 games without a win, packing eight defeats and three draws.
