No Mercy! Perpetrators Who Raped And Killed Fried Food Seller Girls In Padang Pariaman Sentenced To Death Sentence
PARIAMAN - The Panel of Judges at the Pariaman District Court, West Sumatra, sentenced Indra Septiarman alias In Dragon to the death penalty.
He was found guilty of premeditated murder and rape of a girl selling mobile fried foods, Nia Kurnia Sari (NKS), in 2x11 Kayu Tanam District, Padang Pariaman Regency, in September 2024.
"Declaring that the defendant Indra Septiarman alias In Dragon is legally and convincingly proven to have committed a criminal act of premeditated murder and sexual intercourse," said the Chief Justice, Dedi Kuswara, while reading the verdict in a trial at the Pariaman District Court, Antara, Tuesday, August 5.
In considering his decision, the judge emphasized that there was nothing to ease the defendant. On the other hand, there are many aggravating factors, including evidence that strengthens the indictment, statements from witnesses, and the defendant's criminal track record.
It was noted that Indra had been jailed for cases of child molestation and drugs. In this trial, he also provided information that was considered convoluted. He even claimed that the victim kept his 1.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine which could not be legally proven.
On the death sentence, Indra through his attorney, Dafriyon, stated that he would file an appeal. He considered that the judge's decision did not reflect the facts revealed at the trial.
"We assess that the raffia rope used as evidence is only an icon to force the application of Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding premeditated murder of our client," said Dafriyon.
He said he would continue to fight for his client to the Judicial Review (PK) stage, even opening up opportunities to apply for amnesty to President Prabowo Subianto.
Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor (JPU) Wendry Finisa welcomed the decision of the panel of judges which was considered in line with the prosecutor's demands.
"This decision is in accordance with the facts of the trial and we have conveyed it in criminal charges with the death penalty against Indra Septiarman," he said.
