Issues Red Notice Jurist Tan, AGO Waits For Interpol Approval

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) continues to seek investigation of Jurist Tan, a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chrome OS or Chromebook-based laptops at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), which is suspected of being abroad.

The Head of the AGO, Anang Supriatna, stated that currently his party has established direct communication with Interpol regarding the request for the issuance of a red notice for Jurist Tan. The application is now just waiting for the approval process.

"What is clear has been discussed together with Interpol. And just waiting for the approval," Anang told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 5.

Anang ensured that all administrative completeness needed in the submission process had been fulfilled by investigators. Including one of the steps being taken is the revocation of Jurist Tan's passport.

"The process can later be taken, passport revocation, and also red notice will be issued. We'll just have to wait," said Anang. "What is clear is in the process. We have fulfilled all the completeness," he continued.

Related to this, the Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto previously stated that he was ready to revoke the passports belonging to Jurist Tan and other suspects such as Harun Masiku, if there was an official application from law enforcement officials.

"If it is necessary, we will withdraw it too. It's okay, if there is a request we revoke it, we revoke it. There is no problem," said Agus.

Jurist Tan is one of the suspects in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks which is being handled by the AGO. Based on the information gathered, Jurist Tan is currently suspected to be in Australia.
