Following The President Director Of PT Food Station, The National Police Food Task Force Sets The President Director Of PT PIM As A Suspect In The Oplosan Rice Case

JAKARTA - The National Police's Food Task Force has again named three suspects in cases of rice circulation that do not comply with quality standards or adulterated rice. One of them is the President Director (Presdir) of PT PIM, a producer of a number of premium rice brands.

"Investigators have carried out a case title and have found sufficient evidence to determine three suspects," said Head of the National Police Food Task Force Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf to reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 5.

The suspects named include S, who served as President Director of PT PIM. The other two people are AI, as factory head, and DO, Head of Quality Control of the company.

PT PIM is known to be a producer of various premium rice brands that are widely circulated in the market, such as Sania, Fortune, Sovia, and SIIP. Even though they are already suspects, the three of them have not been detained. According to Helfi, this is because the three of them were cooperative during the investigation process.

Helfi explained that the perpetrators were suspected of producing and trading premium rice that did not meet the quality standards according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 6128:2020. This action violated the provisions in the Minister of Agriculture Regulation (Permentan) Number 31 of 2017 concerning Rice Quality Class and Regulation of the National Food Agency (Perbadan) Number 2 of 2023 concerning Quality and Rice Label Requirements.

"Business actors who produce and trade premium rice do not comply with quality standards as regulated in applicable regulations," said Helfi.

During the investigation process, investigators confiscated a number of evidences, including 58.9 tons of rice from various brands suspected of not meeting quality standards.

A total of 13,740 sacks of rice were confiscated. Among them, 58.9 tons of premium rice brands Sania, Fortune, Sovia, and SIIP in packages of 2.5 kilograms and 5 kilograms, said Helfi.

In addition, investigators also confiscated 53.15 tons of large broken rice in sack packaging, 5.75 tons of small broken rice in sack packaging and several production tools used in the rice mixing process.

Previously, the National Police's Food Task Force had also named three other suspects in a similar case. One of them is the President Director of PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Employee Gunarso.

The other two suspects are RL as Director of Operations and RP who serves as Head of Quality Control Section.

The three were charged with Article 62 in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph (1) letters a and f of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. Article 3, Article 4, and Article 5 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU).
