Cloudflare Tuding Perplexity Terobos Blocker Clawler Web
JAKARTA The Perplexity, a startup that develops the Artificial Intelligence (AI) model, is suspected of violating visitor restrictions or websites. This breach is recorded in the Cloudflare report.
The network and security service provider revealed that Perplexity will hide its perayap identity when it finds restrictions or blocking of payments on websites. This is done so that Perplexity can avoid the tool.
By avoiding the blocking tool, Perplexity can access websites with the AI bots they developed. These allegations reinforce allegations of unlawful content retrieval in the past.
Perplexity has been accused of taking content without permission. The company was also accused of breaking through a paywall or system that limited access to online content and ignoring robotics.txt files on the site.
Before Cloudflare reported this issue, there were customers who filed complaints. The customer claims that the Perplexity bot can still access their website even though it has been restricted.
To test these allegations, Cloudflare created a new domain with similar limitations to the AI Perplexity scripter. The results show that Perplexity tries to access sites with its true identity, namely 'PerplexityBot' or 'Perplexity-User'.

However, if the website has a limit, Perplexity will change its user agent. The agent will be turned into a Google Chrome clone on macOS. This setup also uses an unregistered 'turning' IP address.
In addition, Perplexity is shown to change its autonomous system network to avoid blocking. Cloudflare said that, "This activity is observed in tens of thousands of domains and millions of demand per day."
After this report was released, Perplexity Spokesman Jesse Dwyer stated that Cloudflare's report had 'many misunderstandings' in it. However, Cloudflare did not believe it and chose to remove Perplexity from the verified bot list.
