JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that until the first semester of 2025, the volume of Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) transactions had recorded 6.05 billion with a value of Rp579 trillion.

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Filianingsih Hendarta said that until the end of July 2025 QRIS services had reached 57 million users and 39.3 million merchants, 93.16 percent of whom were MSMEs.

Filianingsih said that the rapid digitization must also run in line with culture and tourism as the identity of the Indonesian nation.

He conveyed that through the spirit of culture and innovation, he hoped that the digitization of the payment system could continue to be expanded continuously to all corners of the country, as well as be firmly rooted in the lives of the Indonesian people.

"Bank Indonesia always invites all stakeholders, both at the central and regional levels, to continue to synergize in the success of QRIS Exploring Indonesia in 2025," he said in his statement, Tuesday, August 5.

Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia is again holding the QRIS Explore Indonesia which combines efforts to develop a digital payment ecosystem with support for Indonesian cultural tourism.

In addition, this campaign is a movement that invites people to travel as well as transact with digital financial instruments.

Filianingsih said that this activity is expected to further encourage digitalization as a basis for strengthening inclusion and advancing MSMEs.

Therefore, Bank Indonesia is again holding the QRIS Exploration Indonesia 2025 competition which will be held throughout Indonesia, at the 46 Domestic Representative Offices (KPwDN) of Bank Indonesia and at the regional level.

In addition, he conveyed that along with this activity, the launch of QRIS without Scan (QRIS TAP) of the DIY transportation sector was also carried out.

Filianingsih added that QRIS TAP is a Near Field Communication (NFC) technology-based payment method designed to provide alternative payment methods for the needs of mass transactions that are fast, easy, cheap, safe, and reliable (CeMuAH) such as in the transportation sector.

He conveyed that the implementation of QRIS TAP also marks an integrated step between digital payment systems and public transportation services to support the tourism sector.

"This innovation is an important part of efforts to transform national digital which is oriented towards public services in the strategic sector," he said.

Likewise, the Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, said that the DIY Government continues to be committed to building an inclusive and sustainable economic ecosystem.

"In the midst of the development of digitalization and technology, the importance of maintaining harmony is to stay good in the digital era through the use of technology which is used not only for economic growth but also for equal distribution and mutual benefit," he said.
