Pertamina Capai Decarbonization Around 68 Percent Until Semester I-2025

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) reported, until Semester 1 of 2025, the realization of Pertamina's carbon emission reduction has reached around 68 percent of its annual target, with a total emission reduction of more than one million tons of CO2e.

"This achievement is the result of consistent decarbonization measures, ranging from energy efficiency in operating facilities, utilization of low-carbon energy plants, to improving distribution and energy transportation systems," said Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Tuesday, August 5.

Some of the programs that contributed significantly include expanding the installation of PV diesel in strategic operations locations and optimizing the use of natural gas as transition energy in the upstream sector and refineries. These programs not only reduce emissions, but also increase operational cost efficiency.

Fadjar added that this achievement shows that Pertamina's sustainability initiative is not only an operational strategy, but part of the company's long-term commitment to supporting Indonesia's Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

"Pertamina will continue to strengthen the implementation of low-carbon initiatives across subholding and affiliates to support sustainable development, while maintaining national energy security," said Fadjar.
