Student in Serang Dies After Drinking Homemade Liquor Mixed with Cough Medicine
SERANG - A group of teenagers in Serang Regency, Banten, held a party containing mixed liquor (miras) in a liquor-laced liquor (miras) party, tragically ending with the death of a vocational high school student named Mukhibi Habibillah (16).
The Head of the Serang Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Andi Kurniady ES, stated that the fatal incident began with a party containing mixed liquor in a rice field on the evening of Friday, August 1.
As a result of this incident, two of his friends, junior high school students, identified as RI (13) and RM (13), have been arrested by the Serang Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
"Based on the investigation, the victim and the two suspects currently in custody held a party containing arak (arak) mixed with energy drinks and packaged cough medicine," Andi stated, as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 5.
He stated that the victim became so drunk that he lost consciousness after drinking the mixed liquor. His two friends then took him to the edge of an irrigation river. Frustrated by the victim's failure to regain consciousness, the two men beat him in an attempt to regain consciousness.
Because the victim remained motionless, RI and RM left him lying on the riverbank. When they returned to check on him early Saturday morning, the victim was gone.
The victim's body was found on Saturday afternoon (August 2nd), floating in an irrigation canal in Carenang District.
"The identification team found bruises from beatings on the victim's body," he added.
After investigating the discovery of the victim's body, police identified and arrested the two suspected perpetrators at their respective homes in Tanara District early Sunday morning (August 3rd).
For their actions, the two teenagers were charged under Article 80 paragraph (3) of the Child Protection Law and/or Article 304 of the Criminal Code concerning negligence causing the death of another person, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
