Exploitia, First Javanese Banteng Baby Born From The Reintroduction Program In Pangandaran
PANGANDARAN Efforts to preserve the Javanese Bull (Javanicus boss) have made a new milestone. On Sunday, July 27, a baby female bull was born in the Pananjung Nature Reserve, Pangandaran. The baby, named Exploitasia, became a symbol of the revival of a species that almost went extinct in Java.
The West Java Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) conveyed this good news as a result of the Javanese bull reintroduction program which was inaugurated seven months ago, in December 2024 to be exact.
The birth of Exploitia is the first in this reintroduction scheme. The Pananjung area, which had lost its bull trail in 2023, is now again an active habitat for the species.
The parent, Uchi, comes from the Bogor Safari Park and is one of four adult bulls released into the inauguration of the reintroduction center. The other three are Bindi from Prigen Safari Park, as well as two male 'Bejo and Senta' from Gianyar Safari Park.
"We welcome the birth of Exploitia as clear evidence that the semi-natural habitat prepared has supported the natural reproductive process," said Director General of KSDAE, Satyawan Pudyatmoko, in his statement received, Monday, August 4.
This program is run by BBKSDA West Java in collaboration with Taman Safari Indonesia, Pangandaran Regency Government, PT Star Energy Geothermal Darajat II Limited, and local communities. The four bulls live in an area of 5 hectares in a semi-liar system, closely monitored by nine field officers.
Every day, the team monitors health, reproductive behavior, and animal nutritional intake. This program also prioritizes genetic diversity by combining individuals from various populations of Safari Park.
The name Exploitia was directly chosen by the Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni. This contains the hope that the little one will explore and conquer his habitat," Satyawan said.
Exploitia is not just a marker of technical success, but a symbol of the spirit of conservation based on collaboration and long-term commitment. The medical team is now monitoring the growth and condition of the mother and child for 24 hours.

"This birth shows that Pangandaran not only excels as a tourist destination, but also as a potential conservation site," Satyawan added.
This program marks a new chapter of Javanese bull conservation in Indonesia. Exploitia is now a new icon that brings hope to the revival of endemic species that have been threatened with extinction.
