KPK Hasn't Returned Hasto's Books: Investigators Are Still Conducting Analysis

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the books and notebooks belonging to the former Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto had not been returned. Investigators still need it to complete the alleged interim replacement bribery (PAW) for members of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period.

As for this case, the KPK named Hasto as a suspect in giving bribes with Donny Tri Istiqomah, who is a PDIP cadre as well as a lawyer.

"Investigators are still analyzing the confiscated items as evidence, yes," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, July 4.

"Because in this case it is still ongoing, there are several other parties who have also been named as suspects by the KPK. Of course we also want to process this because the state should not lose to corruption," he continued.

Chairman of the Jakarta Corruption Court Panel of Judges Rios Rahmanto ordered the KPK prosecutor to return Hasto's evidence. This statement was made after Hasto was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

"Evidence from number one to number 205 is used in a case on behalf of the defendant Harun Masiku," said Rios after reading vonus at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Friday, July 25.

"Except for one black book that reads KompasTV #Believed Friends; One Black Book Written ERICA E-156 Personal Note Book; and one Red and White Note Book Written PDI Perjuangan was returned to the defendant," he continued.

The DPR previously approved the granting of amnesty to the Secretary General of the PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto who was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison in connection with the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of the PDIP faction of the DPR. This decision is the result of a consultation meeting between the government and the DPR tonight at a request for consideration and approval of a letter from the President.

Hasto was later released from the KPK detention center on Friday night, August 1. He was seen wearing a red shirt in a black jacket and carrying a backpack.

After being released, Hasto then flew to Bali to attend the PDIP's VI Congress. He was greeted with emotion by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri at that time.
