Continuing To Increase, Tobacco Products Industry Investment Reaches IDR 5.2 Trillion Since 2022
Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza said that the investment realization of the Tobacco Products Industry (IHT) sector continues to increase.
He said, from 2022 until the first semester of 2025, investment realization from the IHT sector reached IDR 5.2 trillion.
"Based on BKPM data, from 2022 to 2025, the investment value of the IHT sector reached IDR 5.2 trillion," said Faisol at the opening of the Business Matching event and the Indonesian Product Exhibition entitled "Specialty Indonesia 2025" at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Monday, August 4.
According to Faisol, the IHT industry has carried out a thorough downstream process with an integrated upstream-downstream supply chain, where almost all of its production uses raw materials from within the country.
He said the national tobacco industry is a strategic sector that contributes to the creation of up to 5,000 workers.
"With the creation of direct workers, there are around 5,000 people," he said.
In terms of exports, IHT products also increased to 1.85 billion US dollars in 2024, with major export destination countries being the Philippines, the United States, Cambodia, Singapore, and Vietnam.
In addition to IHT, the Drinks Industry Contains Alcohol Ethyl (MMEA) is also a sector that contributes greatly to excise and exports, which in 2024 excise will reach IDR 8.86 trillion and exports of 17.32 million US dollars.

Di tingkat global, upaya promosi produk MMEA berorientasi ekspor juga terus dilakukan. Salah satunya melalui fasilitasi keikutsertaan dalam ajang SIAL Paris 2024, yang berhasil mencatatkan potensi transaksi ekspor sebesar 620.000 dolar AS, dengan minat dari sejumlah negara seperti Taiwan, Jerman, Inggris, Prancis dan Rusia.

In order to improve the quality of MMEA products, the Ministry of Industry has issued Permenperin No.19/2024 concerning Procedures for Issuing Technical Considerations for Importing Alcoholic Drink Baku Materials.
"This rule provides opportunities for imports of raw materials for alcoholic beverages as collateral for the availability of domestic raw materials, expansion of innovation and improvement of the quality of Indonesian MMEA products," he said.
At the global level, export-oriented MMEA product promotion efforts are also being carried out. One of them is through facilitation of participation in the SIAL Paris 2024 event, which managed to record export transaction potential of 620,000 US dollars, with interest from a number of countries such as Taiwan, Germany, England, France and Russia.
