Megawati And Colleagues Optimistic About Bouncing Back In Second Leg Of SEA V League In Vietnam

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Women's National Volleyball Team is determined to bounce back in the second leg of the 2025 SEA V League, which will take place in Vietnam this weekend.

Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and her teammates finished bottom of the first leg in Thailand last weekend, going winless in three matches.

Indonesian Women's National Volleyball Team Manager, Luciana Taroreh, stated that the disappointing first leg result will be an important evaluation for them to improve their performance in Vietnam.

"We remain optimistic. We will continue to work hard. Public support is certainly crucial for this team's progress."

"Today's defeat will be an important evaluation. Our focus now is to bounce back and perform better in Vietnam," said Luciana.

Indonesia ended its campaign in the Land of the White Elephant with a painful 1-3 (20-25, 20-25, 25-15, and 13-25) defeat to the Philippines on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Prior to that, Octavian's team suffered a 0-3 defeat to Vietnam (11-25, 11-25, and 22-25) in the first match and a 1-3 defeat to host Thailand (25-22, 15-25, 25-27, and 12-15) in the second match.

Luciana acknowledged that Indonesia still has many weaknesses that need to be addressed immediately, particularly in defense, consistency, communication, and finishing.

"Several key players have not yet fully recovered from injuries, so they couldn't perform optimally in every set," she said.

Failing to achieve a single win in Thailand means the Garuda Pertiwi squad has to settle for zero points. Megawati and her teammates sit behind the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand.

The second leg of the SEA League will take place in Ninh Binh on August 8-10, 2025. Indonesia will face Thailand, Vietnam, and finally the Philippines.
