Google Cancels Stopping Goo.gl URL Support

JAKARTA In July last year, Google revealed that it will stop supporting all shortened goo.gl URLs. Now, the plan is canceled ahead of its implementation.

Google's link support should have been discontinued on August 25, but Google withdrew its decision. It's not explained why Google canceled support for the URL.

"All other goo.gl links will be maintained and will continue to function as usual. To check if your link will be maintained, visit the link today," Google wrote in a statement, quoted on Monday, August 4.

Although not expressed specifically, Google seems to have heard the input of its users. The tech giant said that they understand the importance of this goo.gl link for some users even though the traffic is small.

This link is 'embedded in many documents, videos, posts, and others' so Google will maintain its still operating goo.gl URL. If a link with that URL can be accessed without any messages showing up, the link is still working.

Before this information is delivered, Google has directed users to switch to another URL. In fact, links with a goo URL.gl will get a message stating that, "This link won't be working anytime soon."

With the cancellation of this support termination plan, these messages will be removed from the site that is still working. Google will not remove the goo.gl link and the URL will work without any problems going forward.
