Avoiding Conflicts Of Interest, Belva Devara Resigns From Stafsus Jokowi

JAKARTA - Adamas Belva Devara announced his resignation as Special Staff to President Joko Widodo. This decision was made in connection with the Ruangguru polemic, which was a training partner for the Pre-Work Card program.

Through his personal Instagram account, @belvadevara, he delivered an open letter to the public regarding his decision to resign from the staff of President Jokowi. Jokowi has also submitted an official letter of resignation since April 15 and has been received by the Palace.

"As explained by the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy and Management of Implementing the Pre-Employment Card (PMO), the verification process for all Pre-Employment Card partners has been running according to applicable regulations, and there is no involvement that creates a conflict of interest," said the man born on May 30, 1990.

Belva also emphasized his decision to resign from Jokowi's staff position in order to avoid public perceptions of Ruangguru's involvement as a training partner in the pre-employment card program. Where the public often relates to this, because the CEO of Ruangguru also serves as the president's staff.

"I took this tough decision because I didn't want to make polemic about the assumptions or varying public perceptions about my position as the President's Special Staff to be prolonged," he wrote.

Even so, Belva expressed his gratitude to Jokowi for giving him the opportunity to work as a presidential staff. "I really feel the enthusiasm of President Jokowi in building the nation effectively, efficiently and transparently," said Belva, who was appointed as staff member on November 21, 2019.

At the end of his upload, an alumnus from three universities in the United States, namely the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University and Harvard University, explained that the verification process for all Pre-Employment Card partners has been running according to applicable regulations, and there is no involvement that creates a conflict of interest.

While quoted from the Kompas.com page, the palace has confirmed Belva's resign letter as presidential staff. "President Joko Widodo has received a resignation letter from presidential staff Adamas Belva Syah Devara. The president accepts Belva's resignation and understands the reasons for his resignation," Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said.
