MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ready To Break 2 Million AnTuTU Score, Challenge Snapdragon In Middle Class
JAKARTA - MediaTek appears ready to shake up the mid-range smartphone market with the presence of its newest chipset, Dimensity 8500, which is predicted to be able to penetrate the score of 2 million points at the AnTuTu benchmark. Leaks from trusted tipster Digital Chat Station reveal that this chip will bring significant improvements from its predecessor, and even be able to approach the performance of the SoC flagship.
Dimensity 8500 is produced using 4nm TSMC fabrication technology, which is known to be efficient in power consumption. However, the main focus is on increasing the Mali-G720 GPU, which is claimed to be the main factor behind the AnTuTu scoring spike. In comparison, Dimensity 8400 only reached a score of around 1.6 million on AnTuTu.
If this claim is accurate, Dimensity 8500 will be one of the most powerful chipsets in the mid-range segment, and could rival last year's flagship chipset performance.
Redmi Turbo 5 And Poco X8 Pro Become First Phones
According to reports, Redmi Turbo 5 will be the first device to use Dimensity 8500, possibly launching by the end of 2025 or early 2026 in China. For the global market, Poco X8 Pro is said to be the rebrand version of this device.
Not only Xiaomi, a number of other major manufacturers will also reportedly adopt this chipset, including brands under the BBK Electronics umbrella such as Realme, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, and iQOO. Some of the models that may be powered by this chip include:
- Realme Neo 8 SE
- iQOO Z11 Turbo

Ready To Compete With Snapdragon 8s Gen 5
The launch of Dimensity 8500 comes amid the onslaught of its main competitor, Qualcomm, who is also preparing a new sub-flagship chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (known also as 8s Elite or 8s Plus). The chip is reportedly in close proximity to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is Qualcomm's top-class SoC.
With the competition getting tighter, MediaTek appears to be targeting a larger market gap, offering an almost flagship performance at a more affordable price.
If this leak is true, MediaTek Dimensity 8500 has the potential to change the landscape of middle-class smartphones. With a performance that penetrates 2 million points on AnTuTu, this chip can bring a flagship experience to more users around the world, without having to drain the pockets.
Now it's just a matter of time before MediaTek officially introduces Dimensity 8500, and the public can see to what extent this chip is able to compete with the giants in the industry.
