Accelerate Equity Of Coastal Areas, Tanjung Banun Settlement Project Reaches 45 Percent
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to accelerate the development of residential areas that are habitable and sustainable in coastal and border areas. One of the main focuses now is the acceleration of the development of the Tanjung Banun Settlement Area in Batam City, Riau Islands.
The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, emphasized that this project is not only a basic infrastructure development, but also part of the country's commitment to creating resilient, habitable, and able to encourage economic and social equality, especially in coastal and outermost areas.
This project was determined as part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) and was carried out collaboratively by the Ministry of Public Works together with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Transmigration, and the Batam Entrepreneurship Agency (BP Batam).
"This area is designed as a new integrated and productive settlement, where the existing conditions are still dominated by plantation land, shrimp ponds, livestock, and two main environmental centers, namely Kampung Melayu Tanjung Banun and Kuala Buluh," he said in a written statement, Sunday, August 3.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Riau Islands Building, Infrastructure and Area Planning Center (BPBPK), Rocky Adam, explained that this project was carried out on an area of 36.77 hectares through a multi-year contract (MYC) with a value of Rp 164.77 billion.
"The work started in December 2024 with physical progress currently reaching 45.23 percent. The target completion is in September 2025," said Rocky.
The Ministry of Public Works is responsible for providing home parcel land which includes land and geosynthetic work, road hardening, drinking water and sanitation systems, construction of auxiliary health centers, green open spaces, and reforestation of reserve land.
After that, the construction of type 45 houses along with their utilities will be continued by the Ministry of Transmigration. The target of preparing the house parcels has also been set in stages, namely 150 parcels at the end of June 2025, 250 parcels at the end of July 2025, and 350 parcels at the end of August 2025.
