Marsma TNI Fajar Adriyanto Dies While Training With A Microlight Quicksilver GT500 Aircraft

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Air Force mourns the death of Marsma TNI Fajar Adriyanto in a flight exercise using the Microlight Quicksilver GT500 training aircraft, Sunday (3/8/2025). The high-ranking Indonesian Air Force officer was directly involved as a pilot in a professional exercise which is part of the national aerospace sports coaching program.

The light training aircraft with registration number PK-S126 belonging to the Indonesian Aero Sport Federation (FASI) took off from Atang Sendjaja Air Base at 09.08 WIB. Together with Mr. Roni as co-pilot, Marsma Fajar carried out the second sortie of the day in order to improve flying skills according to safety standards and FASI training procedures fostered by the Indonesian Air Force.

However, at 09.19 WIB, the plane lost contact and was found crashed in the Astana TPU area, Ciampea, Bogor Regency, West Java. Both of them were immediately evacuated to Dr. M. Hassan Toto Hospital, but Marsma Fajar's life could not be saved and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

In his official statement, Kadispenau Marsma TNI I Nyoman Suadnyana stated that the plane was in an airworthy condition, and all administrative procedures, including the Air Permit (SIT/1484/VIII/2025), had been fulfilled.

This exercise is part of the development and maintenance of the capabilities of Indonesian Aero Sport Federation personnel under the guidance of the Indonesian Air Force. Marsma Fajar is also active in this activity as a form of his dedication to the world of the national aerospace," said Suadnyana.

The location of the crash of the plane has been secured by the Indonesian Air Force along with related officers, while Marsma Fajar's body is now at Atang Sendjaja Air Base for further military procession.

Known as a dedicated and true aviator, Marsma Fajar Adriyanto is a graduate of AAU 1992 and an F-16 fighter with a call sign "Red Wolf". In his career, he has served various strategic positions, including the Commander of Air Squadron 3, Danlanud Manuhua, Kadispenau, Kapuspotdirga, and finally as Kapoksahli Kodiklata.

He is also listed as one of Indonesia's pilots involved in an air incident with an F/A-18 Hornet fighter belonging to the United States Navy in Bawean's sky in 2003 a incident that marked his commitment to safeguarding national air sovereignty.
