Kabaharkam Polri Checks Trans Java Toll Road, Calling Residents Obedient Not Going Home
JAKARTA - The head of the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam), Komjen Arief Sulistyanto, said that the community obeyed the policy to prohibit going home. This can be seen from the condition of the Trans Java route which was observed to be quiet on the second day of Operation Ketupat 2021.
"The flow of traffic is also normal, in a quiet condition. This means that all members of the community obey what the government calls for it," Kabaharkam said as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 7.
Komjen Arief together with Kakorlantas Inspector General Istiono, Kakorsabhara Baharkam Inspector General Nanang Afianto, and the Community Service Center for Baharkam Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan conducted air patrols on the Trans Java route, monitoring the traffic flow to secure the elimination of Lebaran 2021 homecoming.
From the monitoring results, said Arief, the condition of vehicle traffic leaving Jakarta to Java was normal and even tended to be quiet.
"I was with Pak Kakorlantas and the Kakor in Baharkam carrying out air patrols to monitor the route from Jakarta to Cikampek and the situation was under control," he continued.
According to Arief, the traffic conditions that tend to be quiet indicate that the government policy on eliminating homecoming is effective. The community is said to be following the policies of the government.
Therefore, Arief hopes that this condition can continue until the implementation of Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijriah is complete.
Arief reminded the public that the COVID-19 pandemic could be controlled by not going home.
"This must be maintained so that it runs well, the pandemic can be well controlled, and homecoming or the celebration of Eid al-Fitr can be carried out with each family," said Arief.
The policy of eliminating homecoming has been in effect from 6 to 17 May. The elimination of homecoming aims to reduce transmission of COVID-19.
To support this policy, Korlantas Polri has prepared 381 insulating points spread from Lampung to Bali to keep out residents who are indicated to go home.
On the first day of the operation to block the 2021 homecoming ban, the police overturned 23,573 vehicles that were indicated to be going home.
The vehicles requested to make a U-turn consisted of 12,267 car drivers, 7,352 motorbikes, 2,148 passenger cars, 1,768 goods vehicles and 75 illegal (unauthorized) travelers.
