Janice Tjen Advances To The ITF W75 Finals, Ready To Challenge Superiors From China

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's tennis player, Janice Tjen, scored a proud achievement by breaking into the final round of the ITF W75 operandi which was held in the United States. In the semifinal match which took place on Saturday, August 2 local time or Sunday WIB, Janice performed brilliantly and defeated the tennis player who hostED Crawley in two straight sets.

In the match which lasted for 1 hour 22 minutes, Janice, who came as the seventh seed, managed to beat Crawley with a convincing score of 6-3, 6-2. The victory became their first meeting in an official competition.

Before reaching the semifinals, the Jakarta-born tennis player also managed to record a victory over the third seed from France, Jessika Ponchet. Janice ended the match with a score of 6-4, 2-6.

In the final, Janice will face a tough opponent, namely the fourth seed from China, Xiyu Wang. Wang confirmed the place in the final after defeating second seed Varvara Lepchenko from the United States, with a score of 6-4, 6-3.

However, Janice's work in the tournament's doubles sector was not as lucky as in the singles. Paired with Saki Imamura from Japan, Janice had to be eliminated in the quarter-finals after being defeated by the host pairos kalinya Akli and Eryn Cayetano with a score of 1-6, 2-6.

Prior to appearing atTENting, Janice also participated in the ITF W100 Evansville tournament which is still being held on the surface of the hard field in the US. The series of tournaments are part of Janice's preparations before appearing in the qualifying round of the Grand Slam US Open 2025. She got a place in the qualifying round after successfully breaking the ranks of the Top 200 WTA, an achievement that strengthens her status in the professional tennis world.

Janice's consistent performance this year helped her win the ITF Player of the Month award for two consecutive months, namely May and June. In May, she made achievements in South Korea by winning two ITF W35 titles, namely in Goyang and Andong. She also won double titles in Goyang with the Japanese pair, Saki Imamura.

Entering June, Janice's performance was even more solid. She won four single titles in a row and three double titles, including two of them along with Indonesian tennis player Priska Nugroho. The series of wins recorded a personal record of 25 games winning without breaking up and 42 sets without losing.

Janice's impressive steps not only reflect her dedication and hard work, but also open up new hopes for the Indonesian women's tennis world in the international arena.
