Citing ESPN's report from Jakarta, Saturday, the new deal includes player options or player options in the last year of the contract, namely the 2028 season, as confirmed by Doncic's agent, Bill totaled.

"The agreement confirms Luka's position as the main foundation of the Lakers going forward," he said.

Doncic previously stole the show with Dallas Mavericks before being swapped to the Lakers in the middle of last season.

Now he is the main axis of rebuilding the Lakers squad with another club superstar, LeBron James.

Since joining the Lakers, the Slovenian player has immediately shown significant impact on the field, both in terms of play and leadership.

During his half-season with the Lakers, Doncic recorded an average of 30.1 points per match (ppg), 9.8 assists per match (apg), and 8.5 rebounds per match (rpg), making him one of the most dominant players in the NBA today.

The impressive performance also made him return to the All-NBA Main Team for the fifth time in a row.

The contract extension demonstrates Lakers' long-term commitment to Doncic, as the new face of the legendary franchise.

The USD 165 million contract over the past 3 years is a maximum contract, in accordance with the latest Collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of the NBA, which allows players like Doncic, with certain experiences and awards, to gain the highest contract value.

The presence of Doncic is expected to bring the Lakers back to compete at the top of the Western Region, along with management plans to form a competitive team around the star.

At the age of only 26 years, the guard is still at the peak of his career and is predicted to continue to be the dominant force in the NBA over the next few years.

Luka Doncic was born on February 28, 1999 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from the couple Mirjam Poterbin and Sasa Doncic.

He started his professional career at a very young age, namely 13 years.

At that age, he left his hometown to join the Real Madrid academy in Spain, which is a major step to show his dedication from a young age.

After 3 years, he made his professional debut with senior Real Madrid teams in the Spanish Basketball League (ACB) and EuroLeague.

With Real Madrid, Doncic recorded a number of extraordinary achievements. The basketball player became the best player (MVP) of EuroLeague, as well as brought his team to win the title.

His expertise in managing games, shooting remotely, and reading the opponent's game made him the main prospect in the 2018 NBA Draft.

He was then selected third in the NBA Draft 2018 by the Atlanta Hawks, before being exchanged to Dallas Mavericks the same night.

During his career in the NBA, Doncic immediately stole the show. Evidently, he was named NBA Rookie of the Year in his first season (2018), then continued to grow into one of the most dominant and complete players in the league.
