North Kalimantan Communications And Information Agency Head (Kominfo) Expressed His Appreciation For Journalists Pre-Test Held By SMSI And LUKW PR

TANJUNG SELOR - A total of 48 journalists from various media outlets in North Kalimantan (Kaltara) successfully participated in the Journalist Competency Test (UKW) Pre-test via Zoom Meeting at the Command Center Room of the North Kalimantan DKISP Office on Friday (01/08/25).

The Head of the North Kalimantan Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Cryptography Agency (DKISP), Iskandar Alwi, emphasized the importance of the UKW for journalists in the opening of the pre-UKW via Zoom meeting. The UKW will ensure that journalists working in the North Kalimantan region are registered with the Press Council.

"In fact, the competency gained through the Journalist Test is crucial as a tool for assessing, selecting, and strengthening journalist professionalism. Through this pre-UKW process, it is hoped that participants will receive initial training and understanding," he said at the opening of the pre-UKW.

Iskandar explained that the Journalist Competency Pre-Test was held in collaboration with the North Kalimantan Provincial Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Cryptography Office, the North Kalimantan Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI), and the Pikiran Rakyat Test Institute.

"Allow me to express my highest appreciation and gratitude to all parties who have supported this event, especially SMSI North Kalimantan and the organizing committee. This event is a concrete manifestation of our shared commitment to building a healthy, accurate, and trustworthy information ecosystem in North Kalimantan," said the Head of DKISP North Kalimantan.

According to him, this pre-UKW activity is not merely preparation for the competency test, but also provides a comprehensive platform for assessing the journalist competency standards established by the Press Council. In this context, journalists hold a strategic position as conveyors of information, shapers of public opinion, and partners with the government in communicating programs, policies, and public aspirations.

"However, in carrying out their duties, journalists are required not only to report news, but also to uphold the principles of journalistic ethics, objectivity, and moral responsibility to the public," Iskandar concluded.
