Receiving A Visit From A US Official, Sri Mulyani Promotes Ease Of Investment In The Republic Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - When receiving a visit from the Ad Interim Business Authority of the United States Embassy (US) or US Charge d'Affaires ad interim Peter M Haymond, Indonesian Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati promoted the ease of the investment climate in Indonesia.

"We discussed the US and Indonesia partnership in the economic sector. I explained about Indonesia's current efforts to create ease of doing business in Indonesia. One of them, through deregulation," Sri Mulyani said on Instagram @smindrawati, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, August 2.

He explained that President Prabowo Subianto instructed to focus on simplifying the rules and improving the investment climate in Indonesia through increasing bureaucratic efficiency.

This step is expected to attract more global investment and increase Indonesia's competitiveness in the international market.

According to Sri Mulyani, Peter agreed to strengthen synergy and be open to establishing new cooperation that is more in line with the needs of the two countries, especially in the economic and development sectors.

Peter and I hope that this collaboration will continue to develop for the sake of mutual progress and are committed to continuing to maintain good relations between the US and Indonesia that have existed for a long time, "he said again.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto also received a visit from the Ad Interim Business Authority of the US Embassy Ambassador Peter M Haymond, at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.

Airlangga asked for US support in the process of accessing Indonesia to become a member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The OECD accession process is targeted to be completed in three years. Support for OECD member countries such as the United States and the European Union is urgently needed to accelerate the completion of the accession process," said Airlangga.

The meeting was also an introduction to the new US diplomats as well as discussing strengthening bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.

Responding to this, Ambassador Peter expressed his US commitment to fully support Indonesia's efforts to join the OECD. According to him, the accession process is a strategic opportunity for Indonesia to accelerate domestic structural reforms.
