Highlighting The Phenomenon Of 'Rojali' And 'Rohana', DPR: The Government Must Intervene In Overcoming Economic Weakening

JAKARTA - Member of Commission XI DPR RI Charles Meikyansah highlighted the phenomenon of Rojali (Rombongan Rarely Buys) and Rohana (Rombongan Hanya) which has been widely discussed by social media lately. He assessed that the government must immediately intervene to overcome the weakening economic conditions of the community.

"The condition of people's purchasing power shows an adjustment in consumption patterns, where priority is given to basic needs in line with existing economic pressures. Many of them consider spending as luxury because most income runs out to meet basic needs," said Charles, Saturday, August 2.

Charles assessed that this condition needed to be addressed immediately. He also encouraged the government through the relevant ministries to review the ongoing fiscal policy.

"In the context of slowing public consumption, evaluation is needed to maintain a balance between state revenues and people's purchasing power," Charles said.

Charles assessed that the expansion of the consumption-based social assistance scheme needs to be considered, including strengthening energy and food subsidies as a cushion for inflation. He hopes that this reform will be able to restore public confidence in consumption, which is able to encourage economic growth in terms of domestic demand.

"It takes policies that directly touch the lower levels of society so that they have fiscal space for spending and contribute to national economic recovery," said the legislator from the East Java IV electoral district.

Charles believes that the 'Rojali' and 'Rohana' phenomenon must have received serious attention from the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.

"We know that President Prabowo Subianto is very concerned about economic problems, especially the people's economy. So I am sure that President Prabowo's government will intervene in this phenomenon," Charles said.

"Of course, with the aim of increasing people's purchasing power which will be very useful for national economic growth. Because when purchasing power decreases, the economy will be weak, MSMEs will decline, and the economic downturn will certainly have an impact on the people," he continued.

Charles also hopes that the economic turmoil due to various factors, including geopolitical, can subside soon. He again encouraged constructive intervention from the Government to overcome the weakening of the economy.

"So there is no need for Rojali, Rohana, and no Rohalus or his entourage to appear," Charles concluded.

For information, the term Rojali and Rohana is being discussed on social media. Although it sounds funny, these two terms have serious meaning because they are related to the current economic condition of the community.

The terms Rojali and Rohana are considered to represent the unique behavior of shopping center visitors. literally, Rojali stands for a sparsely buying group, while Rohana is the shortest of the group Hanya.

These two terms appear as a form of humorous satire against visitors who come in large groups to malls or shops, but do not make any purchases. Rojali tends to just walk around, enjoy the atmosphere, or just hang out, while Rohana mostly asks about prices or products but eventually doesn't buy.
