Tottenham Hotspur Captain Son Heung-min Reportedly Will Leave The Club This Summer
JAKARTA - South Korean player who starred in Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min has reportedly decided to leave the club in the 2025 summer transfer market.
This news was revealed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Saturday, who said that Son Heung-min had informed coach Thomas Frank and club management of his decision.
According to a report from The Athletic, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 2, Los Angeles FC (LAFC) from Major League Soccer (MLS), is actively pursuing Son's signature.
LAFC, which has two designated player slots, is rumored to have contacted Tottenham to discuss possible transfers.
In addition, The Guardian reports that the LAFC has long monitored Son, especially after they managed to recruit a former team-mate at Tottenham, Hugo Lloris, in December 2023.
Lloris' presence at LAFC is an additional factor for Son to consider moving to the United States, coupled with the large Korean community in Los Angeles.
However, Son's speculation about the future is not limited to MLS. Clubs from Saudi Arabia also showed interest, with potential big offers that could deter Tottenham from releasing the captain.

Spurs are said to be willing to sell Son if there is an offer with a "significant" amount, although the exact value the club wants is not disclosed.
The 33-year-old's contract with Tottenham expires in 2026 after the club activated the option of an extension in January. However, with less than a year of contract remaining, this summer has been a crucial moment for Tottenham to get a large transfer fee.
The Telegraph said Spurs were working on rebuilding their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League, and Son's sales could provide funding for a team reshuffle.
During his career at Tottenham since joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son has scored 173 goals and 101 assists in 454 appearances, making him one of the top goalscorers in club history. He has also just led Spurs to the Europa League title 2025, the club's first major trophy in 17 years.
