"As a result of this delay, KAI apologizes to passengers who experienced any inconvenience. To anticipate further delays, we have prepared compensation in the form of service recovery in accordance with applicable regulations," said Anne.
Anne stated that KAI will provide compensation in accordance with Minister of Transportation Regulation (Permenhub) Number PM 63 of 2019 concerning Minimum Service Standards for Rail Transportation.
"For delays of more than one hour, passengers can cancel their tickets and receive a full refund (100 percent) of the ticket price, excluding the booking fee. Furthermore, if they do not cancel their tickets, they will be provided with soft drinks," she explained.
Anne explained that if the delay exceeds three hours, passengers will be provided with drinks and heavy snacks.
"For delays of more than 5 hours (arrival), passengers will be provided with snacks and drinks in the third hour of the delay. After the fifth hour of the delay, passengers will be provided with a substantial meal and drinks," she explained.
Meanwhile, Anne continued, if a trip is cancelled due to a delay of more than one hour, ticket refunds will be made in accordance with the above provisions.
"If the trip is diverted via a detour and the passenger decides to cancel, the ticket will also be refunded 100 percent," she said.
Furthermore, Anne continued, passengers will also receive a 100 percent refund of baggage fees if they cancel their trip.
"Replacement tickets, for higher class flights, will not incur additional fees. For downgraded classes, the refund fee will be adjusted according to the regulations," she said.
Anne explained that refunds can be processed at station counters that offer direct refund services or via bank transfer no later than 1 x 24 hours after the cancellation.
"The deadline for processing cancellations and refunds is up to seven days (7 x 24 hours) from the departure date and time stated on the ticket," she explained.
Anne stated that KAI has prepared a rescue team and an infrastructure team to expedite the evacuation process and repair the rail line at the scene.
"We continue to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure normal travel returns as soon as possible," she said.
