Menkum: No Amnesty-Abolition Rules Given For Inkrah Cases
JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas said that no special provisions governing amnesty or abolition must be given to someone whose legal case has permanent legal force or commitment.
"Both amnesty and abolition, which stop the prosecution process and include giving forgiveness, there are no rules at all that the decision must be inkrah," Supratman said, Friday, August 1.
The President granted amnesty to 1,178 people, one of whom was Hasto Kristiyanto. The PDI-P Secretary General was sentenced to three years and six months in prison in the alleged bribery case for interim replacement of legislative members from his party.
In addition, the President also gave an abolition to former Trade Minister Tom Lembong who was sentenced to four years and six months in prison in the alleged corruption case of sugar importation at the Ministry of Trade.
Tom Lembong had filed an appeal against the verdict of the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, while Hasto canceled his appeal after receiving an amnesty.
According to Supratman, granting amnesty and abolition is purely President Prabowo Subianto's prerogative.
"The president does not interfere in the affairs of the legal process at all," he said.

This is because the President considers that all political forces can jointly build Indonesia.
"Moreover, soon we will celebrate 80 years of Indonesia's independence. We have aspirations to achieve Indonesia Gold in 2045. With extraordinary global challenges, geopoliticals and so on, great hearts and togetherness are needed," he said.
The Minister of Law and Human Rights also ensured that the granting of amnesty and abolition would not reduce the spirit of eradicating corruption in the future. This is because Prabowo has repeatedly echoed the eradication of racism, even before becoming head of state.
"Of course the President, in this case for corruption eradication activities, once again, will not lower. The President has many times, not only after he became President, we accompanied him for a long time, yes, and that has never changed," he said.
