Prabowo Gives Amnesty To Hasto, PDIP Politician: This Is 'Warning' For Law Enforcement Officials
PDIP Perjuangan (PDIP) politician Andreas Hugo Pareira assessed that President Prabowo Subianto's move to grant amnesty to PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto was an extraordinary breakthrough. Apart from amnesty, President Prabowo also gave an award to former Trade Minister Tom Lembong.
"President Prabowo made extraordinary breakthrough steps, by using the rights of amnesty and the rights of abolition attached to his position for two legal cases that are of concern and disturb the sense of justice in the public," Andreas told reporters, Friday, August 1.
To note, the abolition decision is the President's decision with the approval of the DPR to abolish / cancel the sentence handed down by the judge. Meanwhile, amnesty is the president's decision with the approval of the DPR RI for release from punishment or prosecution of punishment against individuals and / or groups.
In Hasto's case, the head of the commission in charge of human rights affairs assessed that there was a very visible legal coercion against the PDIP secretary general. Starting from the examination by KPK investigators, the process of filing pre-trial to the prosecution process.
The irony, said Andreas, is that the bribery case that has been decided by the judge, the bribe perpetrator has been convicted and has even been released, is still being dismantled to find Hasto's mistake.
"Surprisingly, the KPK, which should have caught major corruption cases, even seemed to be busy and even looked focused and very excited about Hasto's case, which had no value of state losses. Meanwhile, many indications of major corruption cases just passed in front of the KPK's eyes," he said.

Therefore, the chairman of the MPR RI Study Agency said it was very easy to conclude that Hasto's case was very thick with political nuances. So some people think that Hasto is a political prisoner.
"Not a corruption case or obstruction of justice, as indicted by the prosecutor. Unfortunately, the judge did not have enough courage to make a free decision for Hasto Kristiyanto," he explained.
Therefore, Andreas assessed that the President's move to grant amnesty was like the end of restoring a sense of justice for Hasto, his family, and the PDI-P. As well as the public who follow this judicial process.
"The decision of the abolition and amnesty of the president is also also 'warning' for law enforcement officers, be it the police, prosecutors and judges not only to become the executing machine for the order of certain rulers to sue and sentence someone, but use the law as a tool to uphold justice," concluded Andreas.
