Former Technical Director Of Corruption Suspects, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Respects Legal Process

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has opened its voice over the detention of the former Director of Engineering and Environment of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Sunindyo Suryo Herdadi (SSH) in the corruption case of mining exploration belonging to PT Ratu Samban Mining (RSM).

Just so you know, currently Sunindyo serves as Head of the Communication Bureau, Public Information Service, and Cooperation (KLIK) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dwi Anggia, said that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources actually respects the entire legal process that is taking place.

"And in principle, we, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, respect all legal processes and of course by prioritizing the access to the allegation of innocence and we are committed to continuing to supervise and manage accountable and transparent mining," said Anggia at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, August 1.

He explained that when the case took place, Sunindyo was still the Director of Engineering and Environment at the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for the April 2022 period, July 2024, and had not yet served as Head of the KLIK Bureau.

"Besides that, we leave it to law enforcement officials," he continued.

Previously, the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) named the former Director of Engineering and Environment of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Sunindyo Suryo Herdadi (SSH) as a new suspect in the alleged corruption case in the production and exploration of mining belonging to PT Ratu Samban Mining (RSM).

"Investigators from the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office have named a suspect with the initials SSH in a case of alleged corruption in a coal mine," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) Attorney General Anang Supriatna at the Jampidsus Building at the Attorney General's Office, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 31.

Sunindyo with his position has the authority to evaluate the submission of approval for the 2023 Fiscal Budget Activity Plan (RKAB) proposed by PT RSM for Mining Business Permit (IUP) Number 348 as a condition for production operations.

The results of the evaluation are components to obtain RKAB approval in 2023.
