Palace: Prabowo Immediately Signs Tom Lembong's Abolition And Amnesti Hasto

Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro mentioned the presidential decision (keppres) on granting an abolition to Thomas Trikasih Lembong (Tom Lembong), and amnesty for convicted corruption convict Hasto Kristiyanto by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto was issued as soon as the entire administrative process was completed.

The jury said that so far he had not been able to provide further information regarding the presidential decree, along with numbers, contents, and dates signed by President Prabowo.

"Waiting for more complete information. As soon as possible (the presidential decree will be issued, ed.). Don't take too long," said Juri when met, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 1, answering reporters' questions about the presidential decree of Tom Lembong and amnesty Hasto.

The jury also made the same statement when asked about the presidential decree and amnesty during a press conference at the Presidential Office of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, Friday morning.

"Later, wait for more complete information. As soon as possible (issued, ed.)," said the jury.

Presiden Prabowo Subianto pada 30 Juli 2025 mengirimkan surat kepada DPR RI untuk meminta pertimbangan mengenai pemberian abolisi kepada Tom Lembong. Wakil Ketua DPR Sufmi Dasco, sehari setelahnya, pada Kamis (31/7), mengumumkan DPR menyetujui pemberian abolisi kepada Thomas Trikasi Lembong dalam kasus imporasi sugar di Kementerian Perdagangan RI pada periode 20152016.

"The DPR RI has given considerations and approvals to Presidential Letter Number R.43/PRES/07/2025 dated July 30, 2025 regarding the request for consideration of the DPR RI for giving an abolition on behalf of Tom Lembong's brother," said Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco at the MPR Complex, DPR, DPD, Thursday night.

Tom Lembong was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months after the panel of judges found Tom guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption which cost the state Rp194.72 billion.

Corruption crimes believed to have been committed by Tom Lembong include issuing submission letters or approval of imports of raw crystal sugar for the 2015'2016 period to 10 companies without being based on inter-ministerial coordination meetings and without recommendations from the Ministry of Industry.

Not only a prison sentence, Tom Lembong was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 750 million, provided that if he was not paid, he would be replaced (subsidiary) with 6 months imprisonment.

At the same location, Sufmi Dasco announced that the DPR RI also agreed with President Prabowo's decision to grant amnesty to 1,116 convicts, including Hasto Kristiyanto. Dasco's statement answered Presidential Letter Number R.43/PRES/07/2025 dated July 30, 2025. Hasto has been sentenced by the panel of judges to imprisonment for 3 years and 6 months.
