David Lynch Doesn't Want A Dune Adaptation

JAKARTA - The adaptation of the Dune film by Denis Villeneuve features several still cuts featuring Timothee Chalamet and other players. This flashback of the film adaptation that was worked on in 1984 by David Lynch has become a conversation among lovers of the work.

Lynch's film Dune received negative criticism and failed to win a box office title. More than 50 years since its release, it still makes an impression on this director from Missoula. This was said by Lynch when talking with The Hollywood Reporter.

He was asked about the latest Dune film adaptation. He said he was not interested in an upcoming Dune adaptation. “Because it (the Dune movie) is a pain for me. It was a failure and I don't have the final cut, "he replied as quoted by NME.

The Blue Velvet director said the Dune film he made was not entirely his wish. "I really liked some parts, but it was a failure for me," he said.

At that time, David Lynch had the courage to work on Dune even though he had never read the novel or just knew the story.

Unfortunately, this made watching fans feel unfamiliar with David Lynch's Dune film. They think this film cannot attract the attention of those who are not familiar with the story, even Dune fans also feel this film is far from the story of the beginning of the novel.

Dune is a novel by Frank Herbert released in 1965. Dune tells the story of Duke Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) who travels to a planet finding spices and giving superhuman thoughts.

Reporting from Vanity Fair, director Denis Villeneuve will divide Dune into two films. According to him, the world in Dune is too complex and cannot be described in a single film.

Apart from Chalamet, the Dune film stars Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista and others. Denis Villeneuve's version of Dune is slated for release on December 18th.
